ETRC hosts horse shows at its home arena in Oak Ridge. Shows consist of English, gaited, and Western classes, plus speed events — a mix that reflects the variety of horses and riders the club has always welcomed.
Spectators are welcome and admission is free, so shows are an easy way to spend an afternoon watching local riders compete. Registration opens ahead of the show, and riders can enter individual classes on the day.
Show Day at the Club
The club’s arena is built for show days: a sprinkler system keeps the footing in shape, and the grounds include a concession stand and an announcer’s stand. Spectator bleachers served the shows for decades before being removed in the 1990s.

Gaited Horses Welcome
Gaited classes are a fixture of ETRC shows — fitting for East Tennessee, home of the smooth-gaited Tennessee Walking Horse. Alongside the English and Western divisions and the speed events, gaited classes give riders of every background a ring to compete in.
Youth riders have always been at the center of club shows: the club has held competitive horse shows just for young boys and girls for generations, and young riders proudly displaying winning ribbons are a familiar sight at the barn.
